A "Cowabunga" Throwback Thursday!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love superheroes. Some of my first superheroes were Superman (Christopher Reeve), Batman (Adam West and Michael Keaton) and the fearless four, the lean, green fighting machines known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And on this, my first time doing #Throwback Thursday, I want to share a photo of me on my 8th birthday. Of course I have my Turtle T-shirt on and my mom’s friend made me a birthday cake of my favorite turtle, Raphael, complete with sais. I remember how excited I was to see it and how thankful I was (and still am) for getting that sweet cake (and it really was very sweet). My parents bought me lots of TMNT items (like the original four, variant editions, the Turtle van, two different April O’Neils, Splinters, Shredder, the Foot Cruiser and much more) , some of which I have to this day in good condition. In fact, for my birthday this year, my mom gave me The Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1, of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I had never read, since I was introduced to the Turtles through the cartoon. I really enjoyed that book and it pumped me up even more for the new movie. So, on Saturday, my wife (who said the movie is going to be our date night movie and who is also excited to see it), and I are going to see the new reboot. I’m really excited, despite what some reviewers are saying, and hope more movies are made with the Turtles. I really wish they had released the movie on their original date, which was June 6 (my birthday), because that would have been a great treat. No matter what, that 8-year-old boy (who still lives within me) in that photo is going to go to the movies and enjoy seeing his favorite superheroes on the big-screen again! He might even shout, “COWABUNGA” a time or two!!! Have a great day!!! #TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles #TMNT #COWABUNGA
